Saturday was a special holiday here in Russia. It is the day Russians celebrate the victory of World War II. Many people are off work (In fact, there was a 4 day holiday over the weekend.) and attend the military parade they have in front of the government building. We took a little time off and went downtown to see the parade. As you can see in the pictures below, there were many people there making it hard to see. The president of Mari El made a speech in front of the government building and then different groups of the military marched past in a parade. It was interesting to watch and also gave us a little family time and walk.
Alexander enjoyed an ice cream cone and Zarina wanted a flower. Many people buy flowers to put at the memorial statues.
